Oratory is the path to effective communication. TransLink expert featured on live radio

A fascinating man named Anatoly Khasin was interviewed live on the program Day After Day on the Moscow Speaks Radio Station (92.0 FM) on 30 April. The conversation was about oratory. Anatoly Khasin, a former engineer and metallurgist, later became a theater director and is now a member of the Russian Oratory Association and a top instructor of oratory and culture. He talked about possible reasons behind the growing interest in oratory. Oratory, according to him, is a way of finding mutual understanding, resolving difficult situations and helping to more effectively communicate with anyone.

More and more businesspeople are turning to this science because the confrontational way of communication proved long ago to be ineffective. Whereas in the 1990s one could accumulate capital without oratory, today the Russian business community has risen to a new level, and one must have effective communication ability and skills.

During a lively and pointed dialogue with the program’s host Roman Shchepanski, it was pointed out that oratory doesn’t forbid an abrupt form of communication. But it never allows ad hominem attacks. The main thing is to understand the other person’s interests and motivation, said Anatoly Solomonovich. The shortages of words and forms of communication in modern society demand new approaches, and more precisely a return to oratory.

The participants discussed when it is possible and advisable to begin to learn the secrets of oratory. There exists a special branch of oratory for children. Preschoolers, it turns out, can begin to master the rules of effective communication as part of their play. For them, correct and effective communication in the future will be natural. There are also programs for studying oratory in school, institutions of higher education and special courses. Private oratory lessons with businesspeople are becoming more and more in demand. Tips were given about where it is better to study oratory and how to make the correct selection of courses and manuals.

The program was part of a joint project between TransLink Translation Agency and the radio station Moscow Speaks. The next edition of the program, as usual, will air in two weeks.
