Welsh Language Made an Official Language of Britain
Residents of Wales, one of the four main constituent entities of Great Britain (alongside England, Scotland and Northern Ireland), will be able to
correspond with the European Union using the Welsh language.
The decision was made by the British government after making the Welsh language an official one alongside English in response to a request from Wales.
Spain, which, besides Spanish, is represented in the European Union with the Catalonian, Galician and Basque languages, served as an example for the
decision. They have the status of so-called semi-official languages.
